TFBD May-June 2010 Series: Class 2 Notes

Hello Dancers!
Sorry the Class 2 notes are so late in the making...

1. Warmup using review of the movements covered in Class 1.
2. Washer Woman. Start with arms in modified 4th position (left arm up, right arm in in front curved). Right foot on the ball. Right hip twists up, back, then forward and down; so there is 3 distinct motions. Switch to the other side with the other arm framing.
3. Figure 8 up to down (aka "Maya"), but with accent on the down. Lift the right hip up, slide the out, accent down, then pull the hip back into neutral. Lift the left hip up, slide the hip out, accent down, then pull the hip back into neutral. Remember to keep the back flat, slight bend in the knees. To get a sharp accent down, give quick glute contraction on the opposite hip.
4. Washer Woman and Figure 8 up to down combo. Perform the right side of the Washer Woman, followed by Figure 8 up to down starting on the right, then left. Then switch over to the left side of the Washer Woman, followed by Figure 8 up to down starting on the left, then right.
