Bellydance Basics May Series: Class 2

Sorry about the late post!

Here's a review/recap of what we had covered in the second class of the five week series:

NEW FOR THIS WEEK

- Body wave. Simply and very briefly put, think about drawing a circle with your chest: forward, rounding up, back, then back to starting posture. An external movement.

- Maya. Also known as the reverse Taxeem. This is a vertical figure 8 hip movement that starts up, slide out, round down, pull in to center, then the other side hip up, slide out, round down, then pull in to center. Another way of thinking about it is two circles, one on each hip.

- Propeller Turn. This movement is quite indicative of the ATS (American Tribal Style) movements. Starting with both arms up, lower the right arm, then raise, lower the left arm, then raise; lower the right arm again, raise just the wrist, then plunge the right hand down as you step the right foot over the left to do a full turn. Stop facing left diagonal with a pose, right arm straight up and left arm curve in front of your body; weight in the back leg (left).
